Most of the jewelry that I love I love because it's beautiful in some way. This piece is beautiful, but more than anything it's just purely awesome.
Who's that friendly, slightly overweight guy sitting jauntily at the bottom? Oh! A cheerful samouraï.
Just hanging out, feet bare, sword in his lap. I guess even a samouraï can't be swordfightin' all the time.
This piece is French, circa 1925. The makers marks are partially obscured but it is believed to be the work of Lacloche. The "chain" of the necklace is made up of coral beads, as is the samouraï's background. The pendant is detailed with rose-cut diamonds and the samouraï himself is made of glass and hardstone with a onyx and diamond hat and a diamond sword.
I would wear this necklace alllll the time. It's fun, colorful, the details are beautifully articulated and it's unique. Sign me up, please.
